Design Wall Monday

This is actually a picture of what my bed looked like at 9:00 on Sunday night.  It does not look like that this morning.

Saturday morning I decided to take these blocks out of the drawer they had been in since 2010.  I bought the focus blocks in August of 2010 and immediately went to work on them.  I wrote several of my first blog posts about these blocks.   And as soon as I had the over three hundred 4" blocks done I promptly put them in a drawer.

As of this morning I have this top over half way put together.  Everything above the sunflower block is sewn together.  Half of it is hanging off the side of the bed.  This quilt probably won't look good hanging up because there won't be the same amount of 4" blocks above, below and beside the focus blocks.  I am making this to fit on a queen bed.  Therefore, more is needed to hang off each side and the end.  We'll see.  I don't have a pattern other than what I am coming up with and so it is still a work in progress.  As a matter of fact I have still been making a few blocks.

Friday night I finished this baby quilt top.  I really like the way it turned out.

Be sure to check out all of the great design wall posts at Patchwork Times .

The sunflower quilt is amazing. I love the bright colors. I really like quilts with intricately pieced backgrounds even though they sometimes drive me crazy to make.

Look at that bed how pretty!!! Love the colors of the quilt. Can't wait to see it completed, it's just wonderful. Do you have close ups of the flowers? The colors in those is incredible.

Looks great and I love the vibrant colors of the flower quilt. I hope you have enough fabric to make more little blocks! It is a great design. The baby one is so cute-stars and the colors.

Hi there. I've just started "FOLLOWING" your blog.
I love the wildflower layout because it isn't centered. So many times we quilters don't venture outside of the box but when we do, we get great and surprising designs.... that was a rambling way of saying .... love what you're doing!!

Wow, two beautiful quilts! I can't believe how much you've gotten done on your sunflower quilt in such a short time. Great work.

Gorgeous quilt on your bed! What a great place to pick up a project, already 300+ blocks done :) Good luck on making it turn out just as you like.

Nice baby quilt too.

Sometimes quilt parts just have to sit and simmer for a while before it is time to "make a quilt." This one is going to be beautiful and BRIGHT. Something great to wake up to.

Great fabrics with the sunflower quilt. You have put so much into it already that finishing it up will be all the sweeter.
